Key Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise direct tax operations for Canadian entities, ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
- Oversee the global Pillar II tax processes, which include financial statement provisions, compliance, and effective communication with offshore tax offices.
- Remain vigilant regarding legislative changes and tax developments, proactively addressing potential tax challenges, while keeping the team and management apprised.
- Provide leadership by selecting, nurturing, and inspiring a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, safety, and high morale.
- Manage departmental budgets and adeptly respond to challenges in tax compliance processes.
- Efficiently coordinate and handle tax audits.
- Undertake additional duties as necessary to support the overall objectives of the tax department.
- In-depth knowledge of business and service operations, particularly within large-scale environments.
- Outstanding management, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in analyzing and adapting to changes in tax legislation, along with experience in global tax initiatives.
- Strong research, project management, and communication capabilities.
- Experience with Canadian Income Tax, Direct Tax, global minimum tax, international income tax, transfer pricing, and tax return reviews is highly preferred.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or a related discipline is required.
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in a tax or financial capacity is essential.
