Key Responsibilities
As an LPN in our Women’s Health Department, you will:
- Gather and analyze patient information to aid providers in assessment and care planning.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments with precision and care.
- Monitor vital signs and document medical histories and symptoms accurately.
- Assist healthcare providers during physical examinations and medical procedures within your licensure scope.
- Educate patients and their families on various healthcare topics, treatment plans, and preventive care strategies.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient interactions and care.
- Collaborate effectively with school nurses, WIC colleagues, DCF, and other medical departments as necessary.
- Complete essential paperwork for external organizations, such as school physical exam forms.
- Triage patient calls systematically to determine suitable care options, including home management and scheduling visits.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding after-hours care, triage services, and disease management.
- Coordinate with specialists to secure medical letters and results and assist in establishing home therapies as directed by healthcare providers.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities; bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Capability to excel in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Attention to detail and adept multitasking skills.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and nursing protocols.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems; experience with eClinicalWorks is preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid LPN license in the state of Connecticut.
- Prior experience in pediatrics is preferred.
