Job Summary

We are in search of an experienced and professional Director of Events to spearhead the strategic planning and execution of both live and virtual events. This position is instrumental in propelling our mission forward by fostering meaningful engagement with key stakeholders, investors, and our diverse global staff. You will oversee a range of events, from large-scale global gatherings to specialized meetings, ensuring each event aligns with our mission and global impact strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate and execute long-term event strategies consistent with our organizational objectives, managing multiple large-scale events that support our ministry goals.
  • Develop and manage a strategic engagement calendar for events in collaboration with the SVP of Advancement, ensuring coherence with our mission.
  • Lead, mentor, and cultivate a high-performing events team while promoting collaboration across various departments such as marketing, advancement, and operations.
  • Supervise event budgets, ensuring cost-effective execution while adhering to financial targets.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with external vendors, sponsors, and stakeholders to guarantee seamless event execution and robust partnerships.
  • Manage event timelines, logistics, and operational details, ensuring quality execution that complies with safety and legal standards.
  • Identify potential risks and adeptly manage crises, adapting to unforeseen challenges during live events.
  • Analyze event performance metrics, including return on investment and attendee satisfaction, to inform ongoing improvement initiatives.
  • Effectively communicate event strategies, updates, and outcomes to senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Oversee comprehensive event logistics, including honorariums, venue selection, catering, transportation, speaker management, and overall event flow.
  • Engage in daily prayer and devotions.
  • Manage signing authority of up to $7,500.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional customer service skills with an ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, complemented by excellent interpersonal and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficient in contract negotiation, event planning, project management, and vendor selection.
  • Experience in virtual event planning and management.
  • Strong organizational capabilities with a proven ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage workloads under pressure.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with a talent for motivating and guiding teams.
  • Excellent time management skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and demonstrate discretion.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills with an adept capacity for situational analysis.
  • Willingness to work extended hours as needed to meet organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in event management with substantial leadership experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with event management software and CRM systems.
  • Event planning or project management certifications (e.g., CMP, CSEP, PMP) are preferred.
  • Knowledge of fundraising within nonprofit organizations is highly desirable.
  • Significant exposure to international cultures and organizations is strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • This role is primarily remote, based within the continental United States; candidates located in the Central Time Zone (CST) are preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and utilizing a computer.
  • Occasional ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Capability to travel locally, regionally, and globally, with up to 30% overnight travel required.
  • A current U.S. passport is necessary.
