Key Responsibilities
- Act as a key organizational leader responsible for the design, construction, and management of an event-driven microservices architecture, utilizing Kafka as the core technology.
- Architect and execute the development of essential components that enable engineers to operate in a flexible, scalable, and maintainable manner.
- Establish well-defined domain boundaries for microservices and their associated events, fostering independent development through structured bounded contexts.
- Engage collaboratively with engineering teams to proactively identify risks and mitigate roadblocks to ensure continuous progress towards optimal developer velocity.
- Manage project timelines, deliverables, and resources to guarantee effective implementation.
- Develop observable systems and maintain excellence in engineering practices.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in software development, including at least 2 years of focused work with event-driven microservices architectures.
- Demonstrated technical leadership with exceptional communication and collaborative skills, enabling efficient delivery of business value.
- Practical experience with technologies including Kafka, Python, TypeScript, PHP/Laravel, Postgres, Snowflake, Airflow, Redis, Datadog, Feature Flags, GitHub Actions, Docker, Terraform, and AWS.
- Ability to effectively work with existing code and thrive in an environment characterized by ambiguity and rapid change.
- Strong analytical capabilities combined with a passion for addressing technical challenges while aligning with high-level strategic goals.
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
- A strong commitment to staying abreast of the latest technological advancements and contributing to the establishment of high-performance engineering teams.
- Familiarity with foundational literature such as ‘Designing Data-Intensive Applications’ and ‘Designing Event-Driven Systems.’
