Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to establish strategic objectives concerning external relations.
- Design and implement strategies to elevate our reputation and visibility within the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors.
- Lead public-facing initiatives and communications while assessing public perception and managing reputational risks.
- Oversee the production of high-quality written content including reports, press releases, speeches, and social media updates.
- Cultivate relationships with media representatives and outlets to increase awareness of our mission and accomplishments.
- Manage crisis communications and guide responses to urgent matters.
- Partner with the Partnerships team to identify funding opportunities and broaden our donor network.
- Collaborate with the People & Culture team to develop internal communication strategies that foster employee engagement and alignment with organizational goals.
- Mentor and lead a high-performing external affairs team, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in strategic communications or public affairs, including at least 7 years in a managerial capacity.
- Proven ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships and effectively engage diverse audiences.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen talent for storytelling.
- Strong understanding of media relations alongside experience managing organizational reputation.
- Expertise in digital communications and social media strategies.
- Outstanding organizational and project management capabilities, with an aptitude for handling multiple projects simultaneously.
- A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with alignment to our organizational mission.
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Affairs, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in leading teams and managing stakeholder relationships.
