We are actively seeking a Transmission Line Principal Engineer to assume a crucial role in the design and implementation of transmission projects, encompassing generation tie lines for wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems, as well as independent transmission lines. This role covers the entire project lifecycle, from initial conceptual design through construction and commissioning, ensuring that technical excellence and project timelines are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and direct the design activities for transmission initiatives, ensuring conformity with technical standards and project objectives.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to obtain necessary resources, permits, and approvals.
- Develop detailed project scopes, assess bids, and award contracts for engineering services.
- Supervise the preparation and issuance of engineering documents and deliverables throughout all project phases.
- Act as a technical consultant, providing insights in value engineering and guaranteeing design quality.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in high-voltage (HV) transmission line development, design, and construction.
- Proficiency in design software such as PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Project.
- Strong project management capabilities with the ability to handle multiple concurrent projects.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to facilitate teamwork among multidisciplinary groups.
- Willingness to travel within North America as required.
- Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or Professional Engineer (P.E.) is preferred.
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Primavera is advantageous.
- Experience with renewable energy projects and a solid understanding of relevant regulatory frameworks are beneficial.
