Remote Principal Engineer for Transmission Line Projects

Job Overview

We are actively seeking a highly skilled Transmission Line Principal Engineer to join our team in a remote capacity. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in the design and execution of transmission projects, encompassing generation tie lines for renewable sources such as wind, solar, and battery energy storage, as well as independent transmission lines. This position entails responsibility for the entire project lifecycle, from initial conceptual design through to construction and commissioning, ensuring adherence to technical excellence and project delivery timelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the design process for transmission projects, confirming alignment with technical specifications and project objectives.
• Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners to obtain essential resources, permits, and approvals.
• Formulate detailed project scopes, assess bids, and allocate contracts for engineering services.
• Oversee the creation and distribution of engineering documentation and deliverables throughout all phases of the project.
• Act as a technical consultant, providing expertise in value engineering and verification of design quality.
  
  

Required Skills

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in high-voltage (HV) transmission line development, design, and construction.
• Proficient in software tools, including PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Project.
• Strong project management capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel across North America as required.
  
  

Qualifications

• Preferred certifications include Project Management Professional (PMP) or Professional Engineer (P.E.).
• Familiarity with project management tools such as Primavera is advantageous.
• Knowledge of renewable energy initiatives and pertinent regulatory frameworks is desired.
