In the position of UAV Remote Sensing Project Manager, you will be responsible for the comprehensive oversight of UAV projects from initial planning through to successful execution. Your leadership will guide technical and professional staff as they manage the logistical coordination of our UAV operations, including data acquisition and processing tasks. Your primary duties will encompass:
- Project Oversight: Ensure effective planning, scheduling, and performance tracking of multiple UAV projects, meeting all project milestones.
- Team Leadership: Direct and mentor a team of UAV technicians and specialists, overseeing assignment coordination and quality assurance.
- Contract Negotiation: Define project scope and engage actively in contract negotiation processes.
- Budget Management: Formulate and monitor project budgets, implementing corrective measures when necessary to maintain project timelines.
- Data Management: Collaborate with staff to define database and schema requirements while managing data from UAV platforms for insightful analysis.
- Flight & Logistics Management: Oversee UAV flight requests, pilot assignments, and operational tasks related to data acquisition, including mapping, photography, video, LiDAR, and quality assurance of deliverables.
- Software & Partnerships: Supervise UAV flight and processing software and manage collaborations with platforms such as SkySkopes, DroneDeploy, and Pix4D.
- Business Development: Participate in business development initiatives, including responding to RFPs, delivering presentations, and preparing project proposals.
To excel in this role, candidates must possess:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server, and associated extensions.
- Knowledge of relational database management, data analytics, and web-based GIS mapping services.
- Effective time management skills.
- Remote Pilot Certification (required) and Remote Sensing Certification (preferred).
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in GIS or UAV operations is ideal.
- A Bachelor's degree in Geography, Computer Science, GIS, or a related field is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
