In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in safeguarding the health, safety, and overall well-being of high school students throughout their seminar experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and assess student medical histories in partnership with parents and staff to ensure a secure and healthy environment.
- Prepare the infirmary in advance of the program.
- Engage in essential health and safety training sessions.
- Cooperate with fellow health directors to address program-wide health and safety priorities.
- Remain on-call to respond to student health needs around the clock.
- Supervise the execution of health and safety protocols.
- Conduct regular health screenings and daily wellness check-ins with students.
- Oversee health emergencies and injuries, providing first aid, arranging for medical attention, and conducting follow-ups.
- Manage the operations of the camp infirmary, including medication administration and meticulous record-keeping.
- Accompany students during field trips.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Health Director to guarantee sufficient staff coverage.
- Offer constructive feedback to enhance future programs.
- A valid Maryland State certification or Compact Nursing License (physician, nurse practitioner, or registered nurse).
- Preferred experience in summer camps or educational settings with children.
- Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Capacity to remain composed during high-pressure situations and emergencies.
- Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Proficiency in Google Drive and other digital communication tools.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Valid Nursing License (MD or Compact).
- Preferred experience in roles working with children in summer camp or educational environments.
