Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Community Engineer to join our innovative team in a fully remote capacity, focusing on community engagement and the promotion of open-source software. If you possess a strong technical background and have a passion for fostering collaborative relationships within diverse, global teams, this opportunity will allow you to play a pivotal role in our community initiatives centered around the renowned Ubuntu platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate proactively with an international and distributed team to enhance community initiatives.
• Create impactful content, including blogs and social media posts, that showcases community accomplishments and activities.
• Engage actively with the open-source community through platforms such as AskUbuntu, IRC, and social media, as well as at industry conferences.
• Represent the community and the projects you support at various industry events and speaking engagements.
• Work autonomously while cooperating with others to resolve community challenges.
• Participate in global travel (2 to 4 weeks annually) for both internal and external events, with the possibility for additional travel if desired.

• A strong enthusiasm for technology and a desire to collaborate with talented individuals.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Self-driven, inquisitive, and proactive in approach.
• Experience with open-source projects and developer tools.
• A proven history of community involvement, demonstrated through talks, blog contributions, GitHub activity, etc.
• Familiarity with at least one of the following: Ubuntu Linux (kernel or userspace), DevOps, software development, testing/QA, package management, or container technology.
• Capability to work independently and manage personal objectives efficiently.

• Prior experience with open-source projects and community engagement is essential.
• A background in technical fields related to software development or infrastructure.
