Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with in-house patent attorneys, agents, and paralegals to oversee a large international patent portfolio.
- Review and process incoming and outgoing correspondence and filings, ensuring due dates are accurately recorded in the docketing system.
- Direct docketing mail to relevant attorneys and paralegals, facilitating efficient communication and workflow.
- Manage electronic filings, including downloading correspondence from USPTO and foreign patent offices, while ensuring proper processing through our patent database.
- Proactively monitor and communicate critical deadlines, consulting with attorneys and paralegals to guarantee compliance.
- Generate detailed docket reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis as required by the legal team.
- Maintain an up-to-date docket database through collaboration with the legal staff, guaranteeing data accuracy.
- Liaise with foreign agents regarding international patent matters and assist with the management of annuity and maintenance fee payments.
- Support legal formalities including powers of attorney, notarizations, and various administrative tasks as assigned.
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent professional background.
- Proficiency with patent docketing software and familiarity with USPTO and international IP databases.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in docketing.
- Strong capabilities in Microsoft Word, Adobe PDF tools, and Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A meticulous approach to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Ability to prioritize effectively and work collaboratively across various business units.
- Capacity to thrive in high-pressure situations.
- A paralegal certificate or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Extensive knowledge of patent docketing and filing procedures is essential.
