Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Vice President of Engineering & Projects in the comprehensive management of engineering, construction, and safety for designated projects. This includes monitoring, forecasting, and reporting on project execution, costs, schedules, risks, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Collaborate with leadership to create regular project updates, including daily plans and comprehensive reports for the Steering Committee and Board, addressing project scope, status, change management, contingency planning, and risk management.
- Lead and supervise third-party contractors to ensure timely project execution, providing support in the preparation of reports and updates regarding costs, schedules, and safety/risk monitoring.
- Facilitate the development of project baselines for scope, cost, schedule, risk profiles, and other key metrics, ensuring adherence to corporate governance policies and procedures.
- Direct and manage the administration of the Project Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Controls Process, offering specialized expertise for resolving complex project control challenges.
- Conduct analysis on project execution, costs, commitments, trends, and changes, working proactively with the Project Team to implement necessary corrective actions.
- Oversee the implementation of financial and project controls, including document management processes for assigned projects and study teams.
- Assist in reviewing and validating Contract Administration invoices, purchase orders, subcontract agreements, and payment distributions for accuracy in project accounts payables.
- Strong analytical and project management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with cost and schedule management systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, facilitating effective collaboration across teams.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Proven experience in stakeholder management and successful interaction with site management and corporate leadership.
- Knowledge of project front-end loading, execution, and controls processes is essential.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Approximately 10 years of relevant work experience, including civil project engineering and construction execution, particularly in mining or industrial environments.
- Experience with tailings dams, earthworks, roads, diversion structures, liners, and erosion control is required.
- Highly regarded industrial plant engineering and construction experience, particularly in mechanical, structural, and piping for mining contexts.
