This pivotal role entails leading project execution, allocating tasks, and collaborating effectively with both colleagues and junior team members to guarantee the successful delivery of our initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and produce high-quality technical studies and environmental documents, including Biological Resource Assessments, biological CEQA/NEPA analyses, and permit application packages.
- Determine optimal permitting pathways for complex projects while preparing necessary technical studies and materials for submissions.
- Conduct fieldwork essential for biological documentation, which may include stream and wetland delineations.
- Occasionally travel for overnight assignments as necessary.
- Spearhead intricate biological permitting projects, including those associated with the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and Coastal Act.
- Independently manage and complete medium to large projects, ensuring timely and effective delivery.
- Oversee project scopes, schedules, budgets, and deliverables while serving as the primary liaison for clients and regulatory agencies.
- Provide technical guidance to both staff and subcontractors while leading quality assurance and control (QA/QC) reviews of technical reports and project metrics.
- Engage in proactive client outreach to cultivate strong relationships and secure new business opportunities while crafting compelling proposals and developing cost and schedule estimates.
- Participate in client interviews and deliver presentations to secure project work.
- A minimum of 6 years of progressive and successful experience in environmental consulting.
- Proven leadership and project management capabilities.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with clients and regulatory agencies.
- Expertise in biological resource assessments, botanical and wildlife species surveys, and wetland delineations.
- Familiarity with regulatory permitting and compliance oversight.
- Experience with utility, energy, water, or transportation projects is an advantage.
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology (or a related field) from an accredited institution, or a PhD with 4 years of relevant experience.
- A demonstrated history of supervising personnel and forging positive relationships with staff, clients, regulatory agencies, and subconsultants.
