Remote Senior Engineer for Software - MAAS

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with a passion for open-source software and Data Center automation to join our innovative team. In this remote position, you will have the opportunity to significantly influence the evolution of our Metal As A Service (MAAS) platform, which is crucial for revolutionizing and scaling server infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop essential components and functionalities of the MAAS to position it as the preeminent bare-metal cloud system.
• Design and enhance the architecture of MAAS, focusing on improving its user-friendliness, performance, and simplicity.
• Work collaboratively across departments to ensure seamless integration of MAAS with other tools and adherence to release schedules.
• Contribute to our continuous integration processes to enable fast feedback loops and comprehensive test coverage.
• Create high-quality documentation for Data Center operators and end-users.
• Engage in technical discussions and teamwork to drive successful outcomes.
• Assume responsibility for challenges and guide them towards effective resolutions.
• Participate in international travel several times a year to strengthen connections with global teams.
  
  

Required Skills

• Proven experience in software development, particularly with Python, Go (for back-end roles), or TypeScript, React (for front-end roles).
• Rapid adaptability to new technologies, demonstrating strong logical reasoning, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Familiarity with Linux server technologies, including but not limited to Virtualization (KVM) and Containers (LXC).
• Understanding of networking technologies such as PXE, DHCP, TFTP, DNS, and NTP.
• Experience with Baseboard Management Controllers and associated protocols (Redfish, IPMI, AMT).
• Solid background in networking and storage technologies, along with cloud hosting/infrastructure expertise.
• Ideally, experience with large-scale physical server provisioning and automation, including rapid deployment and management.
• Knowledge of open-source development tools and methodologies.
  
  

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, STEM, or a related discipline.
• Willingness to travel up to four times annually for team-related events.
