Remote SQL Engineer - Data Focus

Job Overview

We are actively looking for a Senior SQL Data Engineer to join our team for an exciting opportunity based out of Jacksonville, FL! This hybrid role allows you the flexibility to work remotely and onsite (2-3 days per week). Initially offered as a contract position until April 2025, there is strong potential for extension or transition into a permanent role. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement IT solutions utilizing Python to enhance enterprise-level customer experience applications.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation, conduct unit tests, and execute peer code reviews for internally developed applications.
• Assess and conduct performance evaluations on third-party products.
• Establish IT controls to safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of applications and their processed data.
• Engage in system design, coding, testing, and change management protocols.
• Work with diverse databases including SQL, MySQL, Oracle DB, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, dBase, and MS Access.
• Create and develop RESTful APIs using Python, ensuring a robust and scalable architecture.
• Process batch files, schedule batch jobs, and efficiently manage data.
• Collaborate with the team to evaluate and select various libraries and technologies to meet both business and technical requirements.
  
  

Required Skills

• Demonstrated experience in unit testing, release procedures, and change management frameworks.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal capabilities.
• Profound understanding of the systems development life cycle.
• Extensive experience with SQL scripting, querying, and advanced database management.
• Proficiency in Python programming and relevant libraries, especially in developing REST APIs and processing batch files.
• Familiarity with UNIX/Linux shell scripting and PySpark, particularly within a Hadoop environment.
• Proven ability to work with large datasets (millions of records) and perform data analysis.
• Competence in desktop applications such as Microsoft Suite and flowcharting tools like Visio.
• Systematic approach to evaluating technologies and libraries to fulfill business needs.

• A bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in technical design and programming within the IT sector.
• Experience with UNIX/Linux shell scripting and advanced SQL is essential.
• Strong background in managing large-scale datasets and utilizing PySpark in a Hadoop environment.
