We are looking for a skilled and motivated UAV Remote Sensing Project Manager to become an integral member of our forward-thinking team based in Ames, Iowa. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning, development, and successful execution of UAV projects.
  • Lead both technical and professional teams, ensuring effective operation and maintenance of the UAV fleet and pilot logistics.
  • Supervise UAV data acquisition and processing assignments, ensuring high standards of quality.
  • Manage the planning, scheduling, and performance of multiple UAV projects and personnel.
  • Participate in identifying project scope and contract negotiations.
  • Develop and monitor project budgets, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Guide staff in the creation of database and schema criteria for UAV services.
  • Manage UAV flight requests, pilot assignments, and data acquisition activities, such as mapping, photography, video, LiDAR, and QA/QC of deliverables.
  • Maintain software for UAV flight and processing while nurturing partnerships with platforms like SkySkopes, DroneDeploy, and Pix4D as required.
  • Engage in business development initiatives, including responding to RFPs, delivering presentations, and preparing proposals.
  • Organize project assignments and supervise UAV technicians and specialists.
  • Analyze data sourced from remote sensing platforms to extract meaningful insights.
  • Assist in the development and design of remote sensing applications aligned with project objectives.

Required Skills

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Exceptional time management, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server, and related application extensions.
  • Knowledge of data management within Relational Database Management Systems.
  • Familiarity with data analytics, advanced data visualization techniques, and Big Data.
  • Experience with web-based GIS services and mapping tools.
  • Valid Remote Pilot Certification.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Computer Science, GIS, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in GIS and/or UAV.
  • Remote Sensing Certification is preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license.
