Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal assistance to clients in the food, fiber, and agriculture sectors, primarily focusing on farmers and ranchers.
- Manage estate, business, and succession planning for multi-generational family farms.
- Oversee renewable energy leases, including wind and solar agreements.
- Address property law challenges, such as boundary disputes.
- Draft and review various contracts, including farm leases.
- Facilitate commercial real estate transactions pertaining to farmland.
- Tackle direct farm marketing legal issues, such as farmers markets and Community Supported Agriculture initiatives.
- Handle food labeling compliance issues.
- Assist with business law matters, including business acquisitions, contract preparation, buy-sell agreements, business formations, drafting Terms of Service, and managing trademarks.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Admission to the state bar.
- Relevant experience in food and agriculture law and business law preferred.
