Key Responsibilities
- Direct and manage the centralized accounts payable team, ensuring strict adherence to established protocols and procedures.
- Supervise performance management, including recruitment, training, mentorship, and evaluation of team members.
- Guarantee timely and precise processing of invoices and payments, while providing support to property partners and resolving vendor inquiries.
- Design and implement streamlined systems, procedures, and policies to enhance consistency and efficiency in accounts payable functions.
- Review and execute accounts payable month-end close tasks, including journal entries and reconciliations, in accordance with company policies.
- Monitor accounts payable aging and proactively address overdue items to ensure financial accuracy.
- Oversee the reconciliation and generation of annual 1099 forms, investigating discrepancies and ensuring compliance with IRS regulations.
- Ensure the proper filing, maintenance, and archival of vendor and invoice records.
- Assist in the review of monthly financial income statements and balance sheets, providing insights and support to property staff accountants.
- Maintain confidentiality and carry out other duties as assigned, ensuring reliable attendance.
- Profound knowledge of finance, accounting principles, budgeting, and cost control, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Strong leadership capabilities with demonstrated experience in team management.
- Exceptional organizational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and complex projects efficiently.
- Ability to cultivate a supportive and collaborative team environment through effective coaching and training.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in invoice processing, payments, and record management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, facilitating effective interactions with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical abilities, coupled with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
- 3-5 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounts payable, or receivable, with a solid grounding in accounting principles and procedures.
- 1-3 years of leadership experience within an accounting context.
