Key Responsibilities
- Assist in litigation and enforcement actions concerning financial institutions, including both regulatory and administrative matters.
- Manage consumer class action lawsuits related to banking and financial service practices.
- Draft legal documents including pleadings, briefs, motions, and oversee the discovery process and case management.
- Collaborate with a proficient team of litigators to leverage specialized knowledge in financial services law.
- Represent clients in proceedings before regulatory bodies such as the Federal Reserve, FDIC, OCC, CFPB, and FTC.
- Must hold a license to practice law in Pennsylvania and reside within a reasonable commuting distance of downtown Pittsburgh.
- At least 2 years of recent experience in a busy U.S. law firm.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in financial services litigation, covering regulatory proceedings, complex private litigation, and consumer class actions.
- Comprehensive understanding of financial services laws, including:
- Fair lending and anti-discrimination laws (Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Fair Housing Act)
- Credit card fees and disclosures (Truth in Lending Act)
- Mortgage origination and servicing practices (Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, TILA)
- Federal interest rate preemption (exportation doctrine)
- Unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts and practices, and false advertising
- Enforceability and applicability of arbitration agreements
- Commercial disputes involving financial institutions
- Anti-money laundering
- License proceedings in foreign sanctions cases
- Exceptional advocacy, communication, and writing abilities.
- Proficient with technology, particularly in trial preparation and case management.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
