Key Responsibilities
- Oversee a varied portfolio encompassing both affordable and market-rate properties, shaping investment strategies to enhance the availability of quality housing.
- Direct the asset management function throughout all phases of the real estate investment lifecycle, including acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, and operations.
- Formulate and refine asset management guidelines and methodologies.
- Manage a segment of the asset management portfolio autonomously.
- Develop hold/sell analyses and annual business plans.
- Evaluate and manage significant capital improvement projects.
- Supervise the marketing and disposition of assets.
- Analyze and coordinate financing strategies.
- Calculate and manage cash distributions, and oversee joint venture partnerships.
- Facilitate Limited Partner buyouts and exits.
- Prepare comprehensive reports for capital partners.
- Establish investment strategies and business plans tailored to each asset.
- Forecast income, expense projections, capital requirements, and perform risk-return analyses.
- Attain expertise in market dynamics for assigned geographies and property sectors.
- Collaborate with the Vice President of Property Operations to ensure consistent property management performance.
- Work closely with the Vice President of Acquisitions and Development to provide insights on proposed rents, expenses, and market analyses.
- Advise on investment decisions and support various investment activities.
- Lead the coordination and execution of workouts, restructures, and refinances.
- Maintain robust communication across organizational departments and prepare reports for senior leadership and clients.
- Network with industry peers in multifamily and commercial real estate.
- Bachelor’s degree required; a graduate degree is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in the multifamily sector, with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Essential experience in multifamily real estate asset management is required, along with a background in affordable housing.
- Familiarity with Western US markets is expected.
- Strong analytical and quantitative aptitude.
- Experience in asset development and significant repositioning, along with property dispositions.
- Experience in collaborating with lenders and managing joint venture partnerships is advantageous.
- Knowledge of development and construction practices is beneficial.
- Proven ability to provide visionary leadership.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel skills.
- Superior written and verbal communication and organizational abilities.
- Capacity to effectively interface with all levels of the organization and personnel.
