Key Responsibilities
- Draft, revise, and review vital probate and estate administration documents, such as petitions for probate, inventories, accountings, and tax returns.
- Oversee trust administration functions, including accountings and the filing of fiduciary income tax returns.
- Engage with clients through various communication channels, including in-person meetings, phone calls, emails, and video conferencing.
- Collect and organize comprehensive information regarding the assets and liabilities of estates and trusts.
- Prepare and maintain financial records for estate tax returns and audits.
- Review and edit estate tax returns as needed.
- Draft accountings and settlement documents for both informal and formal estate and trust resolutions.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively engage with clients and colleagues.
- Exceptional organizational capabilities, enabling the management of multiple tasks independently while ensuring meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
- A high degree of discretion and sensitivity when managing confidential information.
- Willingness to extend working hours outside of regular business times to fulfill client requirements.
- 3-5 years of experience as a Trusts & Estates Paralegal, demonstrating expertise in fiduciary accountings and tax preparation.
- Notary license preferred (MD).
