Key Responsibilities
- Receive and accession various tissue specimens, including surgical and biopsy samples, for processing.
- Provide essential support to pathologists in the gross dissection area.
- Execute tissue embedding in paraffin, along with cutting, staining, and labeling slides with precision.
- Innovate and refine laboratory procedures while evaluating reagents and equipment for effectiveness.
- Oversee quality control measures by coordinating internal validations and auditing operations.
- Facilitate ongoing education for laboratory personnel and act as a consultant for best practices.
- Maintain laboratory equipment to ensure optimal functionality and compliance.
- Conduct special staining techniques, immunoperoxidase tests, and other advanced procedures.
- Adhere to safety protocols while documenting all incidents appropriately.
- Assist in managing laboratory workflows to optimize productivity.
- Bachelor's Degree in Histotechnology, Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or Clinical Laboratory Science.
- ASCP accreditation (HTL, HT, CT, MT, or MLT) is essential.
- Current state licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist is required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are critical for team collaboration.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work independently while effectively managing stress levels.
