Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for researchers and operational teams regarding waste management protocols.
• Collaborate closely with environmental management and waste programs to ensure adherence to relevant regulations.
• Assist waste generators in identifying and characterizing waste, excess materials, and recyclables.
• Develop comprehensive waste sampling plans based on available process knowledge.
• Prepare and submit waste characterization data packages and documentation for review.
• Facilitate the identification of waste packaging requirements.
• Initiate and implement pollution prevention strategies.
• Participate in organizational assessments and reviews related to waste management practices.
  
  

Required Skills

• A solid understanding of environmental compliance and waste management regulations.
• Familiarity with federal and state environmental laws and programs.
• Technical knowledge in areas like transuranic waste management and environmental compliance.
• Proficiency in environmental and waste sampling processes, data validation, and interpretation.
• Experience with environmental management instruments and data management tools.
• Knowledge of Low-Level Radioactive Waste, RCRA, and TSCA regulations.
  
  

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering discipline is required.
• A minimum of five years of relevant experience in environmental and/or waste management, preferably within a DOE context. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.
• Prior experience at the research facility and familiarity with its processes is advantageous.
