Overview
We are looking for a STEM Group Leader/Instructor to join our team at GetSMART! As a STEM Instructor, you will lead and inspire campers (ages 6-14) through engaging, hands-on STEM activities. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality educational experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. This role is ideal for passionate individuals who are eager to foster creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork in a fun and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead STEM activities for small groups of students, facilitating engaging lessons and projects each week.
- Provide instruction and guidance to students, ensuring they understand projects and activities.
- Supervise and ensure the safety of all students while maintaining a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Collaborate with fellow instructors and staff to create a seamless and dynamic STEAM Camp experience, including assisting with prep for camp activities.
- Monitor progress and behavior, providing constructive feedback and encouragement to students.
- Communicate regularly regarding any issues, updates, or adjustments to activities.
Qualifications
- Experience teaching or leading children in educational or recreational settings, preferably in STEM subjects.
- Ability to adapt to different learning styles and modify instruction to suit various needs.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before camp starts).
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and activities simultaneously.
- Creative thinking and the ability to make learning fun and engaging for children.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in STEM camps, after-school programs, or other educational settings.
- Familiarity with technology tools (coding apps, robotics kits, 3D printing, etc.).
- Previous experience working with elementary or middle school-aged children.
