Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic STEM Teacher in Prince George's County to lead programming for elementary and middle school students. You will guide students through interactive lessons, projects, and activities that promote creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. This is a part-time role, with responsibilities focused on leading hands-on STEM projects, ensuring a positive learning environment, and fostering curiosity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead engaging, hands-on STEM lessons and activities in topics such as robotics, coding, engineering, and science experiments.
- Work with students ages 5-15, providing guidance and encouragement in their learning.
- Manage classroom behavior and ensure a safe, productive environment.
- Modify lessons to fit the needs of different learning levels and paces.
- Communicate regularly with parents and program coordinators about student progress.
- Ensure that all materials and technology are set up and working properly for lessons.
Qualifications:
- Experience teaching or leading groups of students, preferably in STEM subjects.
- A passion for STEM education and working with children.
- Ability to manage a classroom, keep students engaged, and maintain a positive learning atmosphere.
- Comfortable with technology and using platforms such as Scratch, Minecraft, or robotics kits (e.g., Spike Prime, VEX, etc.).
- Bachelor’s degree in education, STEM field, or a related area (preferred but not required).
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
