What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wellness Coordinator (PT) position at Gettysburg College?
The Wellness Coordinator is a member of the College Life Division and is responsible for developing, implementing and facilitating campus-wide student wellness outreach and health promotion programs and practices. The objective of this position is to foster an environment that promotes student well-being, health education and personal development. The person in this position needs to be highly-motivated; manage details with expertise and professionalism; and, establish working relationships with office staff, student workers, and other offices, faculty, and staff on campus. The Wellness Coordinator will support departmental programs/services and take the lead on programs.
Responsibilities include:
- Plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-informed wellness promotion activities, programs and initiatives for student body utilizing Gettysburg College’s wellness dimensions.
- Collaborate with Executive Director of Counseling & Wellness to develop a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to wellness for students emphasizing personal and community well-being including, but not limited to, substance use; suicide prevention; eating disorders, emotional and physical wellness.
- Develop strategic, creative marketing campaigns and disseminate wellness education and awareness materials on campus (social media, web-based, email, print).
- Maintain coordinated programming calendar for campus-wide wellness activities, programs and initiatives.
- Assist in development, implementation, and analysis of student wellness surveys and program evaluation tools.
- Develop goals, and measurable objectives for wellness promotion and risk prevention/reduction activities, programs and initiatives in coordination with Executive Director of Counseling & Wellness and other campus partners.
- Lead collaboration with various on campus community partners to coordinate wellness activities, programs and initiatives for student body.
- Train and supervise student led programming staff.
- Reflect principles of inclusion & belonging into all aspects of wellness activities, programs and initiatives in order to meet needs of all students.
- Serve on College Life Wellness Advisory Committee.
- Create and maintain a resource catalog of community wellness related services and organizations.
- Assist with initiating, processing, and maintaining records and invoices.
- Other duties as assigned.
This is an hourly position with a pay rate of $20-$23.00/hour
- QualificationsA bachelor’s degree is required. Most relevant degree areas include public health, health education, or social work. Degrees in other fields will be considered with evidence of sufficient university-level coursework and/or professional continuing education in the areas listed above
- Demonstrated knowledge of health topics and current trends relevant to college student populations such as substance use, mental health, sexual health, sleep, nutrition, exercise and technology usage
- Knowledge of health issues and impact on minoritized populations
- Knowledge of health issues and impact on college athletes
- · Demonstrated experience with marketing and social media platforms
- · Evidence of ability to provide leadership and problem-solving skills in analyzing wellness promotion needs of emerging adults, especially college students
- · Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends of the college
- · Ability to work well independently and also to collaborate and communicate effectively with groups
- · Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to details
- · Ability to work periodic evening and weekend hours
