Chief Compliance and Risk Officer
FUNCTION : Provide oversight, guidance, and leadership in compliance and enforcement of mandatory regulatory and environmental requirements and mitigating risk. Assist management and business areas in preparation for external compliance evaluations, including conducting internal compliance evaluations and risk assessments. Engage with internal personnel, industry stakeholders, and regulatory entities in addressing issues relating to standards and compliance policy. Develop, administer, and implement processes to manage scheduling and tracking of internal compliance including routine spot checks and reviews. Maintain compliance program processes and procedures relating to relationships between Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) within the utility.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
1 Manage GEUS Compliance and Risk Program through coordination of internal activities associated with development policies and procedures to address mandatory regulatory requirements and mitigate risk.
2 Conduct periodic reviews and discussions across functional units with SMEs and management to identify issues and develop comments on developing regulatory and environmental requirements.
3 Identify and evaluate risks across the organization and implement strategies, policies and procedures to mitigate potential risks.
4 Conduct periodic reviews of existing risk policies and update as needed.
5 Identify and ensure appropriate engagement by internal personnel in internal and external standards development activities. Solicit for implementation participation, where needed.
6 Coordinate and manage process for development and submittal of requests for information.
7 Manage and coordinate internal activities associated with implementation of mandatory reliability standards and environmental regulations with SMEs and other personnel as required.
8 Ensure timely and accurate communication of pending and current regulatory approvals to all appropriate parties.
9 Provide direction and oversee the development of implementation teams, scopes, and timelines as required to ensure timely and proper implementation of new or revised requirements.
10 Review documentation prepared by functional units and coordinate with personnel as needed to ensure documentation is clear, consistent, and accurate.
11 Track implementation activities to ensure timely compliance and report status to management.
12 Develop and submit reliability and compliance records.
13 Communicate requirements and industry alerts to appropriate GEUS personnel.
14 Monitor and manage compliance activity documentation and conduct internal assessments, reviews, spot checks, and audits to ensure compliance with mandatory reliability standards and environmental regulations.
15 Track, report, and mitigate non-compliance. Coordinate with SMEs to update, enhance, clarify, and improve documentation as needed and prepare documentation for internal and external audits.
16 Act as primary point of contact between GEUS and external collaborative groups on NERC and regional standards and ERCOT Protocol development activities.
17 Participate in various collaborative groups to represent company positions and to obtain industry perspectives for the development of internal comments / positions.
18 Attend external meetings and events as needed to remain informed of and engaged in development of applicable regulations.
19 Provide timely and comprehensive communication of relevant information to management and other internal and external stakeholders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS :
1 High school diploma required. Bachelors Degree preferred.
2 Minimum 5 years of experience managing compliance processes and personnel management. Compliance experience at an electric utility preferred.
3 Extensive computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheets.
4 Knowledge of the electric utility industry including transmission, distribution, and generation preferred.
5 Detail oriented.
6 Project management, records management, and multi-tasking ability.
7 Decision making ability.
8 High level communication skills.
