Shipping Clerk

Your tasks

• The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing records required for outgoing shipments and reviewing outgoing shipment schedules to maintain productive operations.
• Prepares bills of lading or shipping documents for each shipment.
• Checks and records all items loaded for shipment.
• Posts shipments to customer orders and calculates outstanding shipping balance.
• Closes out orders and forwards documents to production planning and accounting departments once shipments are completed.
• Notifies supervisor or planning department when major discrepancies occur, such as over-shipments or substitutions.
• Maintains other shipping records, such as goods returned, returnable pallets, dunnage, etc.
• Collects information for damage claims on in-transit damage.
• Generates and prepares customs export documents for international shipments.
• Coordinates multiple shipping container live loads.
• Other duties as assigned.
  
  

Your profile

• Required Skills/Abilities:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Previous warehouse operations experience.
• One (1) to two (2) years of Shipping experience preferred.
• International and/or export shipping experience advantageous.
• Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
• Exposure to machine noise.
• Typical office/factory environment with possibility of exposure to heat in production and warehouse area.
• Working conditions are normal for a high volume manufacturing environment.
• Work may involve lifting of materials and product up to 65 pounds and working in and around heavy equipment.
• Working in this environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, and work boots.
• This role may require walking in a non-climate controlled manufacturing environment.
