What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forklift Operator [Sit down & Stand up] position at GFA, Inc.?
Job Summary:
The Forklift Operator will transport within the warehouse materials, supplies, and finished products to designated locations.
Shifts -
1st shift: 7:45am – 5:00pm Mon - Fri / Overtime may occur occasionally according to customer request.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Receives, distributes, and stores products as directed in designated, secure locations.
- Prepares and maintains records of materials received and shipped including dates of transactions, locations, and other pertinent information.
- Reviews shipments for quality and accuracy; reviews accompanying documents for accuracy.
- Confirms shipping details or special instructions; expedites shipments that affect the manufacturing process schedule.
- Transport and loads of materials, supplies, and finished goods (manually and/or using hand trucks and skids).
- When problems arise, they resolve issues with contractors or vendors.
- Collects and properly disposes of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping; maintains a safe and clean work environment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of operating sit down and stand up forklifts.
- Hands-on commitment to getting the job done.
- Outstanding attendance and punctuality

- Ability to lift to 20-25lbs when needed.
- Having the ability to push, pull, lift, bend and stand throughout the shift.
- Team player with strong communication skills
- Be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen and background.
- Steel Toe shoes required.
Education and Experience:
- At least two years of related experience in warehousing or manufacturing are required.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 20-25 pounds at a time.
- You must wear safety gear, such as gloves when handling box cutters or similar tools.
