Summary
Our client, a Fortune 500 Pharmaceutical Company, has engaged GForce Life Sciences to provide a Construction Operations Director to oversee quality/coordination/constructability reviews of all drawings and specifications provided by Architects, Engineers, and other Design Professionals to facilitate CM/trade coordination and avoid E&O claims, as well as oversee the CM bidding/award process and coordinate with CM field operations and logistics and supervise the technical scope of the Project Management team to avoid schedule delays and unnecessary or avoidable Change Orders that could be eliminated or diminished.
Job Duties
· Oversee the Project Management team and coordinate with Architects, Engineers, other Design Professionals, and Construction Managers to ensure adherence to schedules, manage project budgets, and maintain the smooth execution of project initiatives and daily operations.
· Responsible for overseeing the owner’s quality control reviews by the Engineering, Design and Construction Department of drawings and specifications prepared by Architects, Engineers and other Design Professionals and submittals prepared by contractors for the growing portfolio of Campus Expansion projects of new build construction
· Performs quality control and technical reviews of Design Document milestone deliverables including drawings and specifications, as well as construction submittals.
· Demonstrates excellence in understanding, evaluating and analyzing all areas of architectural documentation and construction detailing including exterior envelope, R&D lab design, life safety, accessibility, other code compliance, interior detailing, materials, finishes, coordination of the trade disciplines and is considered to be a fully capable professional in these fields. Provides technical leadership for these areas for the quality control reviews by the teams.
· Coordinates with Project Managers, Engineers and other stakeholders as well as external architectural and engineering firms and Construction Managers in raising standards for quality assurance and ensuring that documents produced are coordinated and detailed correctly.
· Coordinates scopes of work with procurement strategy and budget requirements
· Analyzes sequence of trades, CMs means and methods and logistics plans for constructability
· Oversees the CM bidding process and reviews Competitive Bid Awards for approval.
· Thorough understanding of engineering systems including mechanical electrical plumbing fire protection and laboratory process systems
· Thorough understanding of architectural building systems and products/vendor options for foundation systems, core and shell, thermal and moisture protection, building envelope, roofing, & interior construction
· Thoroughly aware of drawing package organization, standard of care, coordination between design disciplines, level of required detail and harmonization with specifications
· Develops the technical capabilities of the Project Managers, Engineering Group, Architects and subject matter leads in other disciplines by implementing a plan for raising their technical capabilities as well as sharing knowledge across the business.
· Creates Quality Assurance checklists for each phase of development of design documents (e.g. SD, DD, CD).
· Oversees the development of the Facility Design Manual and documentation standards for Design Professionals.
· Supports the development of technical proposals.
· Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of architecture principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. Makes decisions independently on technical problems and methods.
· Requires the use of advanced techniques and the modifications and extension of theories, precepts and practices of the field and related sciences and disciplines.
· Provides supervision and guidance related to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.
Mandatory Requirements
· Bachelors or Master of Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management
· 20 years of experience in related field performing similar scope of work
· Supervisory/Management experience
· Professional licensure preferred
· Extensive experience with Pharmaceutical R&D facilities preferred, not required
· Ability to manage numerous tasks/projects simultaneously.
· Preferred Software: Bluebeam Studio, AutoCAD, Revit, SharePoint, Unifier
Term & Start
· 12 month contract (extension probable) with the possibility of becoming full time
· Full time salaried consultant to include 15 days of PTO
· 4-5 days a week onsite in Tarrytown, NY

Pay rate: $250,000-270,000
