Job Title: Process Engineer
Location: Research Triangle Park, NC (Onsite – 5 days/week, occasional weekends)
Duration: 12 Month W2 Contract
Our client is seeking a skilled process engineer to join their pilot scale development team. This role focuses on supporting development lab runs, data aggregation, and modeling for manufacturing recombinant proteins at a pilot scale (50-1000L). The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end operations of fed-batch platform development, utilizing both stainless steel and single-use equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate stainless steel and single-use bioreactors from thaw to drug substance (DS) fill, ensuring smooth lab operations
- Plan, document, and analyze experiments, using modeling tools for process predictions
- Assist with tech transfers to the client’s manufacturing facilities
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot lab equipment, perform repairs, and commission new equipment as needed
- Support lab upgrades, continuous improvement initiatives, and innovation projects
Qualifications
- Strong background in a laboratory or pilot-scale manufacturing setting
- Experience with sterile techniques and biologics development at any scale preferred
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent laboratory, documentation, organizational, and communication skills
- Knowledge and experience in biotechnology, process engineering, protein production, monoclonal antibodies (MABs), biologics, laboratory techniques, and data analysis
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, bioengineering, biochemical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of two years of experience in a lab environment or biotechnology company preferred
