Summary Description:
At The Gorilla Glue Company, we're passionate about building strong brands with our fantastic team of employees. This position is responsible for the management of all day-to-day filling and/or packaging operations, managing multiple direct reports and the corresponding layers of staffing beneath.
What will your day look like?
- Direct and manage production activities, including all filling and/or packaging operations for the company.
- Lead and motivate the workforce in a positive manner and effectively manage employee relations issues including, but not limited to, training, staffing, counseling, discipline, performance management, conflict resolution, and policies.
- Coordinates with Plant Management to ensure department goals and objectives align with Company as well as ensure they are achieved, and foster employee morale with enhanced productivity, by maintaining a fair and equitable work environment.
- Work closely with EHS, HR, Purchasing, Quality, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing to ensure smooth project transitions and implementations throughout the operation.
- Maximize efficiency, labor, standards, line balance, metrics, and productivity.
- Develop, maintain and report daily on performance metrics based on Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery.
- Capacity planning regarding both equipment and labor resources.
- Assistance with the implementation of new equipment and processes.
- Delegate tasks properly while still achieving a “hands on” approach.
- Support and maintain Gorilla Way culture, ownership, and accountabilities.
- Ensures all Redzone meetings take place and employees remain engaged.
- Lead projects in Safety, Quality or Labor Efficiency and support project management initiatives.
- Other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
What will you bring to the table?
- BS preferably in Operations Management or Engineering, or equivalent.
- Five years of experience in a production environment.
- Eight years of experience managing direct reports (exempt/non-exempt).
- Preferred experience managing operations involving liquid filling and/or packaging operations
- Must possess excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate good judgment, have a team building as well as problem solving mentality.
- Must be able to work independently and demonstrate effective initiative.
- Analytical, with critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Adaptability and being an effective change agent.
- Continuous Improvement/Lean Manufacturing Background preferred.
- Knowledge of ERP and WMS systems, Oracle, and Redzone preferred.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stoop, reach, bend, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, talk, hear, see, and lift to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as reading handwritten and or typed material and must have the ability to focus. Must be mobile and transfer from building to building.
