What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bartender: Cocktails & Wine Focused position at Ghostlight Coffee?
Gather by Ghostlight in Dayton, OH is looking for a spirited and seasoned "mixology" style bartender at our new cafe/bar in the historic Dayton Arcade. The restaurant is located at 37-39 W. 4th Street.
This new concept specializes in original house cocktails and house non-alcoholic cocktails, unique beers and wines, and an amari-driven spirits list. This role would work closely with the General Manager and Beverage Director on new drink creation, staff training, and running the bar team.
An ideal candidate will have several years of restaurant and bar experience, some education in the spirits world (either accredited or on their own) and a passion for hospitality.
Duties include:
- maintaining proper preparation of needed bar supplies (juices, syrups, etc..) for the shift
- Prepare alcohol or non-alcohol beverages, adhering strictly to recipe, established techniques and presentation.
- Be prepared with knowledge of current wine and beer lists, appropriate pairings, and general knowledge about the beverages to help guide customer selections.
- Positively interact with customers, providing top-notch hospitality
- Assess customers needs and preferences and make recommendations
- Mix ingredients to prepare cocktails
- Check customer's identification and confirm it meets legal drinking age
- Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies
- Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience
- Comply with all food and beverage regulations
- Appropriately close bar after shift, restocking as necessary for following shifts.
- Assist other FOH staff in full closing procedures, including trash, floors, restrooms, glassware/dishware washing.
Qualifications
- Proven working experience as a bartender
- Excellent knowledge of in mixing, garnishing and serving drinks
- Positive attitude and excellent communication skills
- Ability to keep the bar organized, stocked and clean
- Relevant training certificate
