GHSP, based in West Michigan, is a leading global supplier of mechanical and electromechanical systems to the automotive, transportation, and appliance industry. GHSP is currently hiring a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Engineering team in Grand Haven.
What You'll Do
Analyzes various product structures and processes.
Helps to eliminate inefficiencies and reduce manufacturing costs through product structure and process analysis. Performs DOE analysis to determine optimum-operating parameters by manipulating variables and analyzing how they interact to achieve the most efficient cell measured by processing time, quality, and cost.
Drives PM requirements.
Assists maintenance department with PM system by recommending appropriate PM schedules, requirements and techniques. Goals will be predictive maintenance schedules and reductions in unscheduled downtime. Also recommends and maintains Poka yoke test parts and calibration schedules.
Maintains and improves assembly process cost and rates.
Manages and monitors current rates and standards to ensure quoted rates are being met or exceeded. Develops and drives action plans to address identified gaps.
Maintains PFMEA.
Participates / gives manufacturing input during the development of the PFMEA. Maintains accurate PFMEAs through cross-functional team involvement (i.e. Quality, Process Technician, Production Team Leader, Process Engineer, Tool Engineer, Operators etc.). Maintains and updates the PFMEA (Live PFMEA database and / or Electronic document) throughout the manufacturing life of the program including service.
Maintains winding and complex automation cells.
Uses data and analytical approach to maintain world class winding operations and complexly automated assembly cells. Problem solves issues to the root cause level using solid scientific method. Maintains and tracks equipment capability and makes improvement decisions based on machine capability analysis.
Monitors and controls costs and objectives.
Writes capital AR (If required) Source, and manages assembly and winding equipment development to maintain project timing per the established budget.
Supports manufacturing process.
Assures the most efficient manufacturing method, work cell layout, process flow, work standards, etc. are employed during launch and manufacturing. Also supports manufacturing in trouble shooting process issues, customer defects, and scrap issues. Provides training and requirements for operators and technicians related to complex automation. Support advanced methods of DFT / DFMA's and MFMEA's.
