Job Summary:
Gifts of Grace Adoption Support Center is a licensed child placing agency providing support and education for expectant parents and adoptive parents. We are a full-service adoption agency.
We are seeking an experienced Adoption Programs Director to join our team. As a Adoption Programs Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire adoption program in a Christian Licensed Child Placing Agency. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, organized, and has a strong understanding of Indiana Adoption Law.

REPORTS TO: Executive Director
SUPERVISES: Program Staff
CLASSIFICATION: Casework Supervisor per IC 31-27-6-15.5
MISSION: Gifts of Grace Adoption Support Center exists to provide high-quality, Christ-centered and affordable adoption services to support birth families, create thriving adoptive families, and ensure that all children attain a permanent home at the youngest possible age.
OVERVIEW: The Adoption Programs Director will serve the mission of Gifts of Grace Adoption Support Center by overseeing the agency’s adoption programs and collaborating to lead the staff teams.
JOB DUTIES:
Programs Oversight
- Maintain familiarity with all Indiana Adoption Code and all state LCPA licensing requirements
- Oversee and implement the administration of all adoption program plans, programs, and projects
- Evaluate program effectiveness and provide recommendations for areas of improvement
- Oversee, provide training, direct weekly supervision, support, and leadership to all adoption program staff
- Coordinate the tasks of all adoption program staff
- Ensure that all adoption programs, products and services are delivered on time, within budget, and according to quality standards
- Oversee all adoption programs paperwork and documents, reviewing and recommending edits as necessary
- Provide final approval for all client applications and biannual renewals
- Oversee all adoption presentations, matches, and all relinquishments, transition plans and placements
- Review and edit all adoption home study, post-placement, and background check reports
- Provide program staff and adoptive families with support, problem solving and crisis management, as needed
- Oversee all program family and expectant family support, trainings, and support groups
- Oversee all case notes, client files, and records for the adoption program
- Oversee and maintain all adoption databases and records
- Oversee all consultation contacts and agency inquiries
- Oversee 24/7 hotline monitoring and responses
Agency and Staff Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Senior Staff to develop and implement strategies to promote the agency’s mission and vision
- Represent the agency to the public
- Assist with policy and procedure creation or edits, as necessary
- Conduct weekly staff meeting to discuss agency updates, current clients, policy changes, etc.
- Assist to build relationships with community partners, donors, and potential clients
- Implement marketing and advertising plans, including maintenance of website and social media accounts
- Attend board meetings and relay adoption program information to Board of Directors
- Provide assistance and backup to other team members, as needed
- Provide assistance and oversight during licensing review and renewals
- Assist with all employee hiring and termination decisions
- Collaborate to develop and implement the agency budget
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: per IC 31-27-6-15.5
Bachelor’s Degree and at least one of the following:
A. 3 years of supervised paid casework experience
B. 1 year of supervised paid casework experience in a licensed child placing agency or with DCS
C. Preferred: Master’s Degree or 1 year of graduate training in social work, counseling, or a related human service area of study
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A thorough knowledge of social casework objectives, principles and methods, and casework management
- Ability to be self-driven and motivated on independent tasks and also to collaborate as part of a team
- Ability to relate positively, influentially, and sensitively to a broad spectrum of persons to include but not limited to staff, adoptive families, birth families, community partners, and board members
- Able to re-orient tasks to address crisis situations
- Able to supervise and lead a team
- Expertise in critical thinking, decision-making, problem-solving, and crisis management
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and an insured, reliable automobile capable of being regularly used for work
- Proficient computer skills including spreadsheet and database skills using Office 365 and Sharepoint
- Proficient in finding creative solutions to complex problems
- Proficient with social media platforms
HOURS AND BENEFITS:
- This position is 24-30 hours per week during regular office hours Monday-Thursday between 9am and 4pm as well as periodic evening and/or weekend events or adoption placements.
- The pay range for this position is $22-25 per hour, based on education and experience.
- Gifts of Grace provides employees with paid holidays and personal days but does not currently provide insurance.
CLEARANCES:
- This position requires that the applicant agree with and adhere to the Gifts of Grace Statement of Faith and Employee Code of Conduct.
- This position requires applicants to pass the following screenings prior to employment: Child Protective Services, Federal and State fingerprinting based criminal background check, Local Law background check, National Sex Offender Registry, and Medical Screening (including general health, alcohol/substance abuse, and mental and emotional health).
