Summary :
The Operations Market Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the Market Store Manager in overseeing daily store operations, including the Warehouse, Loss Prevention, Janitorial, Inventory Control and Front-End departments. This role ensures excellent customer service, drives sales and profitability, and maintains high operational standards across all departments. The Assistant Manager plays a key role in achieving store goals through effective team leadership, compliance with safety standards, and ensuring the quality and presentation of products in every department.
Responsibilities : Store Leadership :
- Assist the Market Store Manager in overseeing the daily operations of all departments, including Warehouse, Loss Prevention, Janitorial, Inventory Control and Front-End departments .
- Act as the primary leader in the absence of the Store Manager, addressing operational challenges and decision-making needs.
- Monitor and analyze overall store performance metrics and individual department metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
- Enforce company policies and procedures across all departments to maintain operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Team Development and Training :
Supervise, coach, and mentor department leads and employees to enhance skills and productivity.Conduct regular team meetings with department leads to communicate goals, share feedback, and encourage collaboration.Facilitate training programs tailored to department-specific needs for new hires and ongoing development for existing team members.Address team performance issues promptly and provide constructive feedback for improvement across all departments.Safety Compliance :
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations in every department to provide a safe environment for employees and customers.Conduct regular safety audits and inspections across all areas, addressing any issues immediately.Train team members in each department on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and proper handling of equipment and products.Warehouse and Loss Prevention :
Oversee the efficient receipt, storage, and distribution of goods to support store operations, ensuring proper organization, cleanliness, and adherence to safety standards.Enforce policies and procedures to mitigate theft, fraud, and shrinkage within warehouse operations and throughout the store.Conduct regular audits, inspections, and surveillance to identify and address security risks and inventory discrepancies.Collaborate with law enforcement and security teams in response to incidents as necessary.Inventory Management :
Monitor inventory levels in each department to prevent overstock or shortages and ensure availability of key items.Oversee ordering and receiving processes in collaboration with department leads to maintain accurate stock levels.Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies across all departments.Minimize waste and shrink through effective inventory control practices in perishable and non-perishable areas.Merchandising :
Implement company merchandising strategies across all departments to maximize sales and enhance the customer experience.Plan and execute seasonal promotions, displays, and special events tailored to each department.Analyze sales trends to identify opportunities for improving product placement and merchandising tactics in individual departments.Maintain compliance with pricing and promotional guidelines across all areas of the store.Customer Experience :
Maintain a customer-ready store with clean, safe facilities, proper stock levels, and accurate pricing.Understand customer needs to drive strategic merchandising plans.Foster community relationships to maintain a positive company image.Create and uphold a culture of exceptional customer service.Supervisor Responsibility :
Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes hiring, work allocation, training, problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance; provides guidance and feedback for assigned staff.

Working Conditions :
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work will primarily be performed in a retail store environment.
Work will be performed inside a temperature-controlled environment and occasionally in cold storage areas.Noise levels in the work environment are moderate.Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts are required.Physical Demands :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to handle products for extended periods.
The employee occasionally is required to bend, stoop, and lift heavy products.The employee must regularly lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.Required Qualifications :
High School diploma or GED.Three (3) years' experience in merchandising and / or management in a retail or related environment.Two (2) years of supervisory experience in a grocery store or related environment.Certification in food safety or sanitation (e.g., ServSafe, Food Handlers Card) or attained within 30 days of hire.Certification in CPR and First Aid within 90 days of hire.A satisfactory result obtained through a test for illegal drugs.Acknowledge and agree to maintain a drug-free workplace.Preferred Qualifications :
Associate's degree in business administration, management or related field.One (1) year of experience with the technical skills to assist as needed in all departments within the market.Demonstrated ability to inspire and lead a diverse team in achieving department goals.Collaborative mindset to work with other grocery departments, such as deli or produce, for cross-promotional opportunities.Excellent customer service and professional etiquette.Superior organizational skills with attention to detail.Effective communication abilities, both verbal and written.Ability to address customer concerns and unanticipated problems professionally.Self-starter with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.Proficient in the use of POS equipment and other electronic systems.Capability to execute effective merchandising standards as assessed through regular audits.Familiarity with department equipment maintenance and customer service best practices.Knowledge and experience working with Gila River Indian Community or other Native American Communities.Proficient in MS office and other relevant workplace tools.
