Summary :
The Department Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of their assigned department, ensuring high-quality standards, maintaining compliance with safety and operational regulations, and delivering excellent customer service. This role includes supervising department staff, managing inventory, and driving efficiency through effective organization and strategic planning. The Department Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining high operational standards, enhancing profitability, and supporting the overall goals of the organization.
Responsibilities :
Operational Oversight :
Supervise daily operations within the department, including product handling, stocking, and display organization.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Monitor department performance metrics and implement solutions to achieve goals related to efficiency, quality, and resource management.
Team Leadership :
Manage and train department staff, including scheduling, coaching, and performance evaluations.
Facilitate training programs on operational procedures, safety regulations, and customer service for new and existing employees.
Promote a collaborative and motivated team environment.
Product / Service Quality and Presentation :
Oversee quality control, ensuring standards are met in product or service delivery.
Maintain organized and visually appealing displays that align with company standards.
Respond promptly to customer inquiries and feedback related to department offerings.
Inventory and Ordering :
Manage inventory levels to prevent overstock or shortages while ensuring availability of key items.
Coordinate with suppliers to order necessary products and supplies within budgetary constraints.
Conduct regular inventory counts and address discrepancies to minimize loss and waste.
Merchandising and Strategy :
Implement strategies to enhance department performance and visibility.
Analyze trends to identify opportunities for improved operational efficiency and customer engagement.
Collaborate with relevant teams to execute department-specific promotions and initiatives.
Customer Experience :
Foster a culture of exceptional customer service, addressing customer needs promptly and professionally.
Engage with customers to provide recommendations and assistance as needed.
Ensure the department is well-maintained and customer-ready at all times.
Other Duties :
Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to overall operational strategies.
Support management in achieving organizational goals and addressing operational challenges.
Supervisory Responsibility :
Oversees the supervision of personnel, including hiring, work allocation, training, problem resolution, and performance evaluations. Encourages productivity and provides guidance and feedback to assigned staff.

Required Qualifications :
High School diploma or GED.
Two (2) years of experience in merchandising, operations, or management in a retail or related environment.
One (1) year of supervisory experience in a similar setting.
Certification in safety, sanitation, or operational compliance (as applicable) or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
Certification in CPR and First Aid within 90 days of hire.
Ability to pass a drug screening test and commitment to maintaining a drug-free workplace.
Preferred Qualifications :
Associate's degree in business administration, management, or a related field.
Demonstrated ability to inspire and lead a diverse team in achieving department goals.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Self-starter with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
