Summary:
The Warehouse Department Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the warehouse, ensuring efficient workflow, and maintaining a safe and organized environment. This role includes managing a team of warehouse staff, maintaining accurate inventory levels, upholding product quality, and ensuring a seamless customer experience through effective merchandising and timely order fulfillment. The Warehouse Department Supervisor plays a vital role in driving operational excellence and achieving organizational goals through strong leadership and process optimization.
Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight:
- Oversee the daily operations of the warehouse, ensuring timely receipt, storage, and shipment of goods.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment, adhering to all safety and sanitation standards.
- Monitor warehouse equipment and schedule maintenance as needed to avoid operational disruptions.
- Implement and refine warehouse policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Team Leadership:
- Manage and train Warehouse department staff, including scheduling, coaching, and performance evaluations.
- Facilitate training programs on safety, product handling, and customer service for new and existing employees.
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate updates, set priorities, and address challenges.
- Promote a collaborative and motivated team environment.
Vendor Product Quality:
- Inspect incoming shipments for quality, accuracy, and compliance with vendor agreements.
- Coordinate with vendors to address product discrepancies or quality concerns.
- Maintain records of product issues and resolutions to inform future procurement decisions.
Inventory Integrity:
- Manage inventory control processes to ensure accurate stock levels and minimize discrepancies.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and reconcile variances promptly.
- Collaborate with procurement and sales teams to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
- Utilize inventory management systems effectively to track and analyze stock movements.
Merchandising:
- Plan and implement efficient storage layouts to optimize warehouse space and improve accessibility.
- Ensure products are stored and displayed according to company guidelines and safety standards.
- Coordinate with store leaders and marketing teams to support promotional activities and seasonal campaigns.
Customer Experience:
- Foster a culture of exceptional customer service, addressing customer needs promptly and professionally.
- Ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment to meet customer expectations.
- Collaborate with customer service teams to resolve order-related issues.
- Maintain a customer-centric approach by continuously improving warehouse operations to enhance satisfaction.
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Two (2) years experience in merchandising and/or management in a retail or related environment.
- One (1) year of supervisory experience in a grocery store or related environment.
- One (1) year of experience with the technical skills to assist as needed within the department.
- Certification in safety, sanitation, or warehouse equipment (e.g., Forklift, Servesafe, OSH certification) or attained within 30 days of hire.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid within 90 days of hire.
- A satisfactory result obtained through a test for illegal drugs.
- Acknowledge and agree to maintain a drug-free workplace.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in business administration, management or related field.
- Demonstrated ability to inspire and lead a diverse team in achieving department goals.
- Collaborative mindset to work with other grocery departments, such as meat or produce.
- Excellent customer service and professional etiquette.
- Superior organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication abilities, both verbal and written.
- Ability to address customer concerns and unanticipated problems professionally.

- Proficiency in identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Capability to execute effective merchandising standards as assessed through regular audits.
- Familiarity with department equipment maintenance and customer service best practices.
- Knowledge and experience working with Gila River Indian Community or other Native American Communities.
- Proficient in MS office and other relevant workplace tools.
