What are the responsibilities and job description for the Central Sterile Tech-HHK-Sacaton position at Gila River Health Care?
Position Summary: Responsible for conducting sterilization procedures in accordance with organizational policy in order to ensure patient and physician safety and regulatory compliance. Conducts tests of medical instruments to check functionality and performs minimal maintenance of medical instrumentation as necessary to ensure reliability and availability of essential equipment. Maintains records of sterilization processes in accordance with established guidelines allowing for proper compliance and accountability.
Critical Tasks:
- Sterilizes, inspects, assembles, packs, and sorts all medical instruments and equipment according to established protocols and manufacturer instructions for use in order to ensure patient safety and regulatory compliance.
- Identifies medical instruments, tests for proper functionality, and performs minimal maintenance of medical instrumentation as necessary to make certain that surgical instrumentation is safely operable and facility medical device equipment is reliable and available.
- Conforms to facility required methodologies and Standard Precautions and Infection Control measures.
- Operates steam sterilizers as specified.
- Maintains sterilization process records in accordance with established guidelines.
- Reports all breaches in sterilization processes to appropriate management and takes necessary action to ensure policy compliance and safety.
- Performs other job-related activities as requested.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Current and valid Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) preferred, or completion of Certification within 1 year in position.
- Prior medical environment work experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures.
