The opportunity
Drive efficiencies within the existing Labor Management system utilizing equipment and resources while sharing those lessons learned across all the sites. Perform time studies, labor tracking, process flows, and process improvement suggestions for distribution operations. Perform engineering and analytical duties to identify and implement cost reduction / improvement opportunities for the Operations Support Team. Provide technical support for cost analysis as needed for budget development. Provide system support for the Warehouse and Labor Management Systems to maximize departmental proficiencies.

The role
- Identify, document, and implement best practices across all distribution facilities
- Create time study templates using UMT software for Labor Management system
- Execute Time-studies for Engineered Standards
- Perform equipment travel speed and distance studies using XYZ coordinates
- Create engineered standards utilized by Labor Management system and Budget model
- Evaluate / Design / Implement slotting plans based on facility requirements and business needs
- Design location configuration, pick sequencing, and put-away logic to maximize production efficiencies
- Constantly strive to improve overall distribution productivity
- Evaluate / Author Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Process Mapping, and Process Flow Charts for Distribution Operations
- Create / Design / Maintain Excel reports (VBA / Coding experience)
- Touch Reduction in Operational Flow of DCs
- Show employees how to work smarter and be more productive in processes
- Use Labor Management system to track unmeasured time and help pinpoint potential areas of improvement
- Promote cost saving and time improvement ideas in all distribution facilities
- Facilitate Budget Model Creation / Maintenance
- Maintain DC engineered standards, labor rates, and shipping / receiving / picking dozens
- Maintain facility measurements (X,Y,Z coordinates) in Labor Management system
- Use Labor Management system to better utilize system-based production reporting (eliminate manual paper tracking)
- Evaluate conveyor throughput as needed to determine requirements for projects (Print and Apply, sortation, customer requirements)
- Offsite and Future Expansion Warehouse Design based on operational needs (ex. Turning radius of equipment to determine aisle width)
- Determine required FTEs for each department and position based on Engineered Standards / Throughput
- Train others in the Labor Management System basics
- Perform Process Flow evaluations to focus on waste reduction opportunities
- Participate in Process Improvement Projects for Distribution Operations
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
- Occasional travel is required for this position
- University Degree and 1-3 years relevant experience with related discipline (Industrial Engineering degree). New graduates with internship experience will be considered.
- Strong understanding and advanced use of Excel (including VBA
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
- Engineering Degree Required
- Experience with Method Time Measurement and engineered standards required
- Experience with Labor Management and warehouse systems preferred
- Experience with a full-functional computerized Order Management System such as JDE or SAP preferred
- Understanding of process flow and inefficiencies required
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to focus for extended lengths of time
- Strong organization and prioritization skills needed
- Ability to assimilate information rapidly and effectively
- Ability to work in a team-based environment
- Must be able to work independently and self-manage coordination of duties
- Willingness to occasionally travel
- Must possess (or be able to acquire) current US Passport
