Gilead Community Services is seeking a dedicated part time Medical Billing Specialist to join our Finance department team.
About the position:
The full-time Medical Billing Specialist for Gilead’s Middletown area finance department works 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday to handle all aspects of medical billing for our Outpatient Mental Health Clinics, including processing of claims, benefit verification, maintaining of accurate insurance information, and assisting clinicians with necessary prior-authorizations.
Minimum Requirements:
Requires an understanding of Medical Billing preferably within a mental health setting and the ability to work within an electronic health record.
- Requires a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Must maintain and provide proof of valid driver’s license and automobile insurance in good standing.
- Must meet and maintain all required trainings, certifications etc. as needed.
- Uphold confidentiality by following the HIPAA regulations.
- Ability to handle busy work environment and to prioritize needs and work independently to meet deadlines.

This position pays $19 to $21 per hour dependent upon level of education and experience.
Responsibilities:
· Independently verify health benefits through various web based clearing houses such as CT DSS Map, Availity, and Change Healthcare.
- Enters and maintains client insurance information in the electronic health record.
- Apply knowledge of medical billing to generate, review and submit electronic and paper bills to insurance companies on a regular basis.
- Actively works all accounts receivables for timely collection of outstanding balances.
- Continuously updates prior authorizations within the electronic health record.
- Process claims for billable services provided at Gilead’s various programs.
- Review explanation of benefit statements and or remittance advice for denials and resubmit corrected billing as needed.
- Mails client statements of account on a monthly basis.
- Assists with the credentialing of billable service providers using the various web-based resources such as CAQH.
- Works in coordination with the Senior Billing Administrator and the Oak Hill Finance team on intercompany billing projects including planning, implementation, and maintenance.
- Performs other duties, works on related projects, and contributes to the overall success of the finance department.
- Attends relevant training sessions as indicated.
- Other duties as assigned.
