Director of School Counseling
Gilmour Academy is an independent, Catholic, co-educational, college preparatory school in the Holy Cross tradition. We are seeking an experienced Director of School Counseling with exemplary counseling and management skills, a commitment to facilitating the growth of each student, and a desire for ongoing professional collaboration and growth. Successful candidates will have energy, enthusiasm, and experience counseling at the secondary school level. In addition, excellent candidates will:

Lead Upper School Counseling department, ensuring consistent, mission-centered programming for grades 7-12.

Develop multicultural and diversity-based programs, fostering collaboration among faculty, families, and communities.

Manage Upper School advisory program and curriculum, collaborating with advisory team leaders.

Provide counseling support for student issues in collaboration with the Upper School Dean of Student Life.

Oversee self-assessments for grades 7-12 and assists in the admission process.

Collaborate with College Counseling and Student Support Services personnel.

Co-coordinate graduation team.
Management:

Plays a key role in selecting and managing staff, and supporting their development.

Collaborates with the Director of Student Support Services in staff recruitment and deployment.
Qualifications:

A minimum of 3-5 years of school counseling experience, preferably in a leadership role

Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field

Must have an up-to-date Ohio School Counseling Certification

Must demonstrate a strong understanding of local, regional, State, and Federal resources that support families, students, and school institutions.

Strong understanding of adolescent development and mental health issues

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to collaborate with school faculty, parents, and outside agencies

Successful completion of federal and state criminal background checks

Ability to work well under pressure as well as effectively prioritize and execute tasks to meet deadlines consistently

Ability to use discretion in managing confidential information
