What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Line Lead- 3rd shift position at Giovanni Rana?
Purpose of Position
The Line Leader is responsible for assisting the Supervisor and providing directions to production employees in a Department (Pasta or Sauce Production or Packaging).
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure SOPs are followed and products are made to specifications
- Coordinate break relief and assign employees to specific line assignments.
- Complete shift documents as required (CCPs, QC, Production, Labor Reporting, etc)
- Operate and troubleshoot all equipment in the department.
- Effectively train new employees to run equipment and adhere to safety and quality policies & procedures.
- Assist Supervisor to ensure the smooth running of the department and achieve department production and quality targets.
- Assist Supervisor to ensure that Health & Safety rules and regulations are adhered to including GMPs.
- Monitor, measure and report on production related process performances including CCPs.
- Work closely with other Line Leaders to ensure shift handovers are effectively communicated.
- Help Supervisor resolve employee issues through problem resolution.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Key Skills and Experience
- Intermediate Language skills – ability to read/interpret documents, ability to write routine reports/correspondence, ability to speak effectively
- Intermediate Mathematical Skills – ability to calculate figures/amounts
- High Reasoning Ability – ability to solve practical problems & deal with variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Computer Skills including manufacturing software, payroll systems, spreadsheets, word processing software
- Previous experience with specific machines may be required – for example for Packaging—experience with Statistical Weighers and Vertical Form Fill Seal machines – Specifics depend on the department in question
- Previous experience with lot codes and code dating required
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment is required
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is subject to standing for prolonged periods; frequently walks, grasps, lifts, holds, or feels objects; occasionally stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. The employee often is required to use manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination when working and handling products, computers, or machinery. The employee may be subject to assist and support up to 50 pounds with varying amounts of assistance on an as-needed basis. The employee could have work conditions that are cold or hot. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
