Summary
Giraffe Laugh Early Learning Center is looking for one assistant chef/classroom helper to join our team. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, motivated, and reliable.
Summary of Duties: The Assistant Chef is responsible for assisting the Head Chef with a myriad of duties: prep work for the upcoming meal, using proper food handling safety measures, and more. As with all GL employees, being aware of all safety and health issues related to caring for young children is our top priority.

There will also be some classroom time as our Chef's help with breaks for our other team members.
Responsibilities
- Kitchen cleanup is an essential duty of the Assistant Chef; the Assistant Chef needs to be diligent maintaining a cleanly work environment at all times.
- This includes but is not limited to kitchen clean up, trash removal, children’s lunch area clean up.
- As with any food service position there is ALWAYS work to be done; deep cleaning should be done when daily tasks are completed.
- The ability to read recipes and prepare a meal in the event that the Head Chef is absent.
- Knowledge in Nutrition Works and the Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
- A willingness to learn more about that process if necessary.
- Ability to work independently, when needed and follow directions as well as accept feedback in a professional manner.
- In addition to these duties delivering lunches will be done by either the Head Chef or the Assistant Chef at the Head Chef’s Discretion.
- The ability to lift 50 lbs. when needed.

- Strong organizational skills
- Demonstrate Best Practices when interacting with children, parents and other staff members.
- To dress, act and speak as a professional at all times.
- Responsible for staying up to date on training and maintaining a valid Boise City child care License
