The Head Cook Role
Oversees all aspects of dining for campers and staff at Camp Small Valley, ensuring a seamless experience.
- MENU PLANNING AND EXECUTION: Develops and implements menus that meet the dietary needs of campers and staff, serving three meals per day, six days a week.
- KITCHEN MANAGEMENT: Maintains inventory, places orders for food and kitchen equipment, and supervises Assistant Cook and Kitchen Assistant(s).
- : Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local health standards, including PA Food Safety Inspections.
- : Maintains cleanliness of the dining hall, kitchen, and food storage areas, adhering to GSHPA's code of conduct, rules, and expectations.
- : Assists in executing GSHPA's crisis management plan for emergencies, responding 24/7 when on camp property.
Requirements
- : High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- : ServSafe certified.
- : Minimum age of 21, three or more years of successful cooking experience preferred.
- : Demonstrated ability to manage kitchen staff, strong verbal communication skills, and ability to work with diverse populations.
- : Ability to live and work in the outdoors in extreme weather conditions, walk over uneven terrain, and adapt well to changing circumstances.
