The Director of Membership Engagement oversees the membership engagement team through development, implementation, and assessment of the council membership engagement strategy for both girls and adults. Focus for this position is retaining members while improving girl member, family, community, and volunteer experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, support, and direction to ensure adherence to national and local values, policies, and safety protocols, including but not limited to Pennsylvania law on background check and mandated reporter requirements, procedures found in the Girl Scouts of the USA Blue Book and Safety Activity Checkpoints, and efficient / ethical management of troop funds.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to develop, execute, track, and report out on an annual plan in support of the organization’s multi-year strategic plan.
- Supervise and coach direct reports; ensure quality and efficient work of department staff.
- Utilize monitoring and evaluation tools to implement effective strategies that retain a diverse base of girl and adult members.
- Implement strategies to increase community visibility and engagement, leveraging national and local resources.
- Develop and implement a strategic approach to actively track and manage the engagement of adult members, taking tailored steps to move them towards deeper involvement and commitment by incrementally increasing the level of volunteer roles.
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance the membership experience through high-quality experiences and streamlined administrative processes.
- Oversee processes that ensure newly registered members receive a warm welcome to the Girl Scout Sisterhood and have immediate access to the Girl Scout Leadership Experience through connections with local staff, volunteers, troops, service units, and programs.
- Develop and implement an engagement plan for Individually Registered Girls (IRGs) or “Juliettes” to have access to high-quality programming and local Girl Scout connections.
- Build a strong partnership between volunteers and staff that appreciates their respective contributions while also maximizing strategic volunteer relationships to grow the Council’s overall membership.
- Utilize data to develop, implement, and monitor processes to onboard, train, recognize, and support volunteers in a way that is easily accessible and motivating for volunteers.
- Ensure timely, efficient, and effective communications for volunteers and members.
- Act as a catalyst for and effective developer of solutions to key business challenges.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
