Job Summary

Ensures that all programs align with council goals, safety standards, and national guidelines while promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. Key responsibilities include overseeing event planning, managing budgets and vendor relationships, and maintaining strong community partnerships. This position requires a commitment to safety and adherence to strict security guidelines, and it is essential for supporting the council’s membership and retention objectives. Focus of assignments includes:

The Program Manager for Younger Girl Experience is responsible for creating and coordinating engaging programs and events for Daisy, Brownie, and Junior Girl Scouts utilizing GSUSA’s curriculum and tools. This is a safety sensitive position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and implement creative, innovative and engaging programs for assigned level of girl members. Ensure programs and events incorporate the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of events for Girl Scouts, including managing vendors, creating program and event budgets, event agendas, and recruiting volunteers. Manage grants, to ensure financial compliance and effective use of resources.
  • Assists in achieving the council’s membership and retention goals for girl members and new troop leaders by development, coordination and delivery of quality events, curricula, and additional resources as driven by market needs.
  • Follows through on all required steps within a Girl Experience activity structure to ensure that activities and events are based on girls’ interests, Council geographical map, Safety standards and Council objectives.
  • Ensure surveys are conducted for all programs and events. Ensures follow up review, evaluation and reporting of survey results occurs. Use survey data to improve program offerings.
  • Use council and GSUSA data to determine program design and delivery options.
  • Create and implement surveys and manage social media and marketing campaigns to effectively promote events and engage with the community. Handle promotion of programs and events to GSEOK members, volunteers and the community, when applicable, including working with the Marketing and Communications Department to coordinate website updates, flyers, social media posts, Service Unit visits and materials, etc.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion by creating welcoming environments and ensuring programs and events are accessible to all girls and volunteers.
  • Remains current on GSUSA’s and GSEOK’s initiatives and national and local trends affecting membership demographics. Communicates information with team members and customers accordingly. Attends GSUSA webinars, participates in Chatter groups, and utilizes gsConnect..
  • Build and maintain partnerships with community leaders and experts to deliver innovative programs and events that align with national standards and address girls' needs.
  • Ensure community partner programs and events designed for assigned level of Girl Scout members support the Girl Scout curricula and directly relate to badge activities, support volunteers in their work, and adhere to GSLE standards.
  • Look for new and innovative partnerships that expand the traditional Girl Scout program model, appealing to all Girl Scouts, whether in a troop setting or as an individually registered Girl Scout, and to their families.
  • Respond to current community and member trends by incorporating families into programs and events when appropriate.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly via email, phone, and in-person interactions. 
  • Ensures training availability and manages volunteers in an efficient manner.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years of program development experience working with grades K-12
  • Must have a valid driver's license within the state of employment.

Required Skills, Abilities, and Cultural Fit:

  • Experience with event planning, volunteer management, and familiarity with GSUSA programs.
  • Passion for youth development and community service.
  • Working knowledge of customer relationship management systems, data management software, and social networking.
  • Working knowledge of the procedures and legal issues associated with recruiting, selecting, supervising, and releasing adult volunteers.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain strict adherence to safety and security guidelines.
  • Ability to obtain First Aid & CPR certification.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) products.
  • Ability to learn new software as needed.

Physical and Schedule Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Physically able to move through and between offices, program centers, campgrounds, and other off-site locations as needed.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends; occasional overnights as necessary, and ability to travel as the job requires.

Salary : $42,000 - $50,000
