This Program Manager will be assigned to all things Camp and Outdoor! Bring your passion to share the great outdoors with girls all over Eastern Oklahoma! Use your creativity and planning skills to develop camp and outdoor programs that will introduce encourage development for girls at all levels and backgrounds. Job Summary

The Program Manager Camp and Outdoor Experiences r is responsible for developing, planning, implementing and management of high quality and engaging outdoor programming including resident camp and year-round outdoor programs for girls in grades K-12. Ensure that program development and implementation support the council’s program plan and strategic business goals, maintain strict adherence to safety and security guidelines, promote the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and outcomes, and/or links to national program curricula. This position works in a variety of settings and is expected to live at camp for up to 9 weeks during the summer. May create, manage, or chaperone council trips/events during the school year. Council provides resident, onsite housing at Camp property for qualified candidates.

This is a safety sensitive position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  In collaboration with the Director of Camp and Outdoor Experiences, develop and achieve council and department short-term and long-term goals.

· In collaboration with Human Resources and Director of Camp and Outdoor Experiences, will hire, train, and supervise program seasonal camp staff to ensure delivery of high-quality outdoor programming.

· Coach and supervise seasonal camp staff to ensure delivery of high-quality, safety-minded camp experiences and a collaborative work environment that permits growth of seasonal staff while also helping them as necessary manage camp duties and oversight.

· Maintain compliance with Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA), American Camp Association (ACA) and council health and safety standards and procedures.

· Provide direction and support to camp staff in handling crises, emergencies, behavioral, and medical response, as needed. Engage emergency action plan. Coordinate the completion of required forms and reports.

· Collaborate with the Property department to ensure camp facilities meet or exceed regulatory and council standards for safe and effective use.

· Keep current with experiential/adventure education trends and promoting the best use and development of camp facilities.

· Commit to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness and promoting education programming to diverse communities and backgrounds.

· Partner with seasonal camp staff and prepare an evaluation/summary of current season including inventories, staff evaluations, programs, camper reports, operations, facilities, and recommendations for the following season.

· Year-round programming events should include a robust portfolio of programs focused on skill building and adventure through progressive experiences such as hiking, camping, canoeing, rappelling, and target sports

· Prepare and coordinate budgets (including grant budgets) to ensure adherence to approved program events.

· Support functions of the customer care process. Problem solve, manage and respond appropriately and timely to all inquiries including but not limited to email, phone and walk-in customers.

· Know the procedures and legal issues associated with recruiting, selecting, supervising, and releasing adult volunteers; ensures training availability, and manages volunteers in an efficient manner.

· Assist in achieving the council’s membership and retention goals for girls by development, coordination and delivery of quality events, curricula, and additional resources as driven by market needs.

· Cultivate relationships with appropriate community leaders, organizations, and businesses to support retention efforts.

· Organize and maintain Council assets.

· Develop and deliver surveys and coordinates social media marketing and promotional campaigns to publicize events widely.

· Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in recreation, outdoor leadership, environmental studies, related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    · At least two prior seasons of administrative or supervisory experience in an organized camp setting.

    · Must meet the minimum age requirement of 25.

    · Must have a valid driver's license within the state of employment.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of customer relationship management systems, data management software, and social networking

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to maintain strict adherence to safety and security guidelines.

  • Ability to obtain within the first 180 days of hire the following certifications: American Camp Association New Director Orientation, and Youth Mental Health First Aider

  •  ACA membership and Accreditation Visitor strongly preferred or ability to attain Accreditation Visitor status within one year

    • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) products.

Physical and Schedule Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Physically able to move through and between offices, program centers, campgrounds, and other off-site locations as needed.

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends; occasional overnights as necessary, and ability to travel as the job requires.

Salary : $43,000 - $54,000
