About the camp
Camp Shantituck is one of our council's most popular and busiest properties. Located on Cedar Creek near Shepherdsville, KY, this 112-acre camp offers a variety of experiences for troops and larger groups. Buildings, platform tent sites, program shelters, picnic shelters, and primitive camping are all available. Shantituck hosts day camp from June through mid-August. The camp is available for troop meetings, activities and troop camping the rest of the year. There is also a central shower house. There is a teams course, a pool, adventure playground, and archery/slingshots.
About the role
Camp Shantituck Day Camps is currently seeking a responsible and attentive lifeguard to ensure a safe and enjoyable summer experience for campers in Shepherdsville, KY. Lifeguards will be responsible for supervising pool activities to prevent accidents, teaching water safety by communicating rules and policies, aiding in emergency situations, and maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of the pool. Lifeguards will work closely with the Pool Manager throughout June and July, with schedules varying based on program needs. Apply Today!

What We're Looking For:
- Someone is 18 years or older by May 20th, 2025.
- Passion for working with children and a positive attitude.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A role model to campers and staff through your actions, appearance, manners, language, and general conduct.
- Previous experience in camps, coaching, life guarding, or education is a plus, but not required.
- Someone to conduct daily check of equipment at pool for safety, cleanliness, and good repair.
- Ability to commit to the entire camp season (May 20th - August 7th).
- First Aid/CPR certification is a bonus, but we can provide training!
What You'll Do:
- Monitor the pool area to ensure a safe environment for all patrons.
- Evaluate aquatic abilities for every person in camp by administering a swim proficiency test.
- Foster a safe and inclusive atmosphere for campers ages 5-14.
- Collaborate with fellow staff and volunteers to create a positive camp experience.
- Mentor and motivate campers, helping them build confidence and skills.
- Communicate to provide clear, necessary instruction to participants of all age and skill levels.
- Assist with camp logistics and participate in staff training sessions.
