The Community Engagement Specialist plays a vital role in fostering the growth of our Girl Scout community. Tasked with empowering young girls to explore their passions and effect positive change, this role covers coastal Maine from Falmouth to Belfast and inland to Augusta and Waterville. The primary focus is establishing connections with families, schools, and local communities to highlight the abundant opportunities and invaluable benefits offered by participation in Girl Scouts.

What does a Community Engagement Specialist do?
- Generate interest and qualify potential new members and volunteers.
- Schedule, promote, and deliver 8-14 events per month that provide a sample Girl Scout experience and information to caregivers.
- Develop and execute a marketing plan, with the support of our Marketing and Communication Team, to increase attendance at events and awareness about local opportunities that increase membership.
- Encourage and streamline registration at the first point of contact, ensuring easy sign-ups during or after events.
- Build a strategy to increase girl and adult membership to reach annual membership goals.
- Deliver superior internal and external customer satisfaction and establish solid and open relationships based on trust.
- Recruit, train, and support volunteer Community Engagement Champions (CEC).
- Develop an ongoing program, market, and sales knowledge.
Requirements:
- Able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends regularly
- Frequent travel is required. Must have access to personal transportation daily for business travel and have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance
- Proven oral and written communication abilities emphasizing active listening, customer service, and public presentation skills; able to communicate effectively with a diverse group of customers, volunteers, and staff.
- Self-starter who can work independently and takes the initiative; is flexible, adaptable, organized, and has strong attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Teams, and Excel) and social media platforms is essential; experience with a CRM system such as Salesforce is a plus
- Ability and willingness to perform tasks that involve the ability to exert physical effort, which may include some bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 25 pounds).
Hours: 35 hours per week which includes evenings and occasional weekend events. Approximately 50% of your work is remote office based (within your assigned geographic area in Maine), and 50% of your time will be in the field delivering new member events. While the position can be remote based, the person must live within their assigned territory within the state of Maine.
